The Art of Decluttering Your Closet – Making Room for a Reflection and Fresh Beginning

Hey friends!  How’s your closet looking lately?

We know from experience, it can become cluttered and chaotic before you realize, which makes it hard to find your perfect outfit or accessory.

Cleaning out your closet isn’t just an exercise, it’s a transformative journey to make space for new items, both in your wardrobe and in your life.

So put on your favorite music, and let’s get started!

Step 1 – Reflection and Inspiration

Let’s start with a self-reflection.  Think about your current lifestyle, and any upcoming fashion trends that you’re excited about.  This can help identify what’s in your closet that no longer aligns with your current vision, and help identify what items no longer serve a purpose in your daily life.

Step 2 – Sorting and Letting Go

As you begin focusing and sorting through your closet with a keen eye, ask yourself if each item complements your current lifestyle.  Does it fit well in the journey you are on now?  If it doesn’t, be willing to let go of the pieces that no longer serve you.  Does it have too much wear and tear, is it an outdated style, or is it just not in alignment with your current vision.

You’ll need to create 3 separate piles:

  • Keep - what you enjoy wearing;
  • Donate - what isn't your style anymore - bring happiness to others;
  • Sell - think about consignment shops in your town.

This will help clear up space.  You’ll start to feel a sense of accomplishment and pride as you get through this task, because not only are you decluttering your closet, but you are also generously offering your well-loved clothes to others to enjoy as well.  Donating clothes can be a meaningful experience.

Step 3 – Creating Space for New Treasures

Now that you’ve decluttered, take a moment to appreciate the newfound space created from this process.  You’re ready to curate a new look for the coming seasons.  Take note of any items you are missing.  This step helps you ensure that the new items you purchase are intentional and contribute to your overall wardrobe.

Step 4- Organizing and Styling

With a cleared closet and a new vision for an updated wardrobe, organize the remaining items.  Try to arrange your clothes by category, color, or season to make it easier to find items when you need them.

Then, step back and embrace your newfound closet space.  You are ready to introduce new items to complete your upcoming wardrobe!

Cleaning out your closet in more than just a task; it’s an empowering process that sets the stage for new beginnings.  Out with the old and in with a new journey of self-discovery and personal expression.  A new flourishing start to add new chic additions to your collection.
